DART Service Change as of May 1, 2023

Due to rising costs, a nationwide driver shortage, and decreased overall program ridership since the pandemic, the Village of Schaumburg will be implementing service changes to this program.

Effective May 1, 2023, DART will cost $4 for regular service and $2 for reduced fares. Patrons who are eligible for reduced fare must present a valid driver’s license or state issued ID for age verification, a valid student ID, or an RTA-issued identification card with the number beginning with “D”, “S,” or “P.” Patrons that are currently eligible for “ride-free” status will remain eligible. Eligible patrons will be required to display an RTA-issued ID card with the number beginning with “F”

. Additionally, beginning May 1, the DART program will no longer provide service on Saturdays. The DART Program will continue to operate Monday through Friday and dispatchers will take calls from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the last pickup taking place around 8 p.m. for the Woodfield Mall and 7:45 p.m. everywhere else.

Advanced reservations will no longer be accepted, and the program will return to same-day reservations only.

Passenger Notices

Face masks are recommended on all DART vehicles. Everyone, including operators and front-line staff, benefits from limited exposure to others. Under federal DOT ADA regulations, transportation systems are allowed to take precautions like these to protect the health and safety of passengers and operators. Please do your part to stop the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and limit your travel to essential trips.

Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART) is provided by the Village of Schaumburg and Pace’s Suburban Bus Division in which door-to-door access is provided to any location in Schaumburg through community-operated bus services. DART has continued to operate through the COVID-19 pandemic; however, like many businesses currently, is experiencing some difficulties in staffing its services. The village is continuing to work with Pace and its staffing agency to maintain the best possible service on DART. Residents are asked to remain patient and understanding as riders may experience longer travel times and/or pick-up times may be limited in some cases. As staff works to provide individual trips, please allow for extra time and only schedule essential trips due to the program’s current staffing circumstances.

Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART) is provided by the Village of Schaumburg and Pace’s Suburban Bus Division. Schaumburg’s signature transit service has evolved over the years into one of the few community-operated bus services in the Chicagoland that provides door-to-door access to any location in Schaumburg. Since its inception in 1979, DART has provided more than three million rides.

To schedule a ride using DART, call (847) 352-8097. Same day reservations must be made 90 minutes before your desired pick-up time. A dispatcher will then tell you when the bus is scheduled to arrive. The bus can arrive anytime within a 15-minute window after the scheduled arrival time. However, it is recommended that you are ready five minutes ahead of the scheduled arrival time in case the bus arrives early. Once the bus arrives, the bus will wait one minute for you to board.
