To assist with business recruitment, the Village of Schaumburg works with Cook County to help attract economic activity to vacant properties in need of commercial and industrial development.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"title-one\">Small Business Incentives<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Small Business Loan Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Village of Schaumburg offers incentives for small business owners to stimulate economic growth and create jobs for low- and moderate-income individuals. The Small Business Loan Program assists existing small businesses with growth and expansion. The Village of Schaumburg will provide eligible applicants with forgivable loans of up to $15,000. To be eligible, applicants must be a small business (those with 500 employees or less), must have been in business for the past two years, and are located\/locating within the corporate limits of Schaumburg. For more information, contact <a href=\"mailto:tdutter@schaumburg.com\">Tim Dutter<\/a> at 847-923-3852 or <a href=\"http:\/\/174.141.233.253\/~villageofschaumb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Small-Business-Loan-Program-Guide-2020-21-.docx\">view the program guide<\/a> and application <a href=\"https:\/\/schaumburgil.seamlessdocs.com\/f\/21umxpveqsgu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"title-one\">Commercial Incentives<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Cook County Class 7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/174.141.233.253\/~villageofschaumb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Cook-County-Class-7B-Appli.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cook County Class 7<\/a> real estate tax incentive allows eligible commercial users to reduce their assessed value for a period of twelve years. <a href=\"http:\/\/174.141.233.253\/~villageofschaumb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Cook-County-Class-7B-Eligi.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eligible Properties<\/a> must be for commercial development and meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-green mb-3\">\n<li>The area must be designated in need of commercial development<\/li>\n<li>Real Estate Taxes have declined or remained stagnant for the last six years<\/li>\n<li>The project is viable and timely with the approval of the Class 7<\/li>\n<li>The project would not move forward but for the incentive<\/li>\n<li>The project will create increased tax revenue and employment for the area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Village of Schaumburg requires that applicants complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookcountyassessor.com\/incentives-special-properties\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cook County Class 7 application<\/a> and pay an application fee of $500. Class 7 applications are also subject to meeting certain criteria in addition to Cook County\u2019s requirements. The criteria can be found in the Village\u2019s official Class 7 policy, <a href=\"http:\/\/174.141.233.253\/~villageofschaumb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Class_7_Tax_Classification.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which can be viewed and downloaded here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More information on the Class 7 application can be found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cookcountyassessor.com\/PdfForms\/Incentive-Forms.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cook County Assessor<\/a> website.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"title-one\">Industrial Incentives<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Cook County Class 7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Cook County Class 6B real estate tax incentive allows eligible industrial users to reduce their assessed value for a period of twelve years. <a href=\"http:\/\/174.141.233.253\/~villageofschaumb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/cls6bb.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eligible Properties<\/a> must be for industrial development and meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-green mb-3\">\n<li>The real estate is used primarily for \u201cindustrial purposes\u201d, which includes manufacturing, wholesale distribution, or processing of raw materials to create new products<\/li>\n<li>The incentive is used for either new construction, the purchase of an abandoned property (2 years vacant) or for substantial rehabilitation of a structure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Village of Schaumburg requires that applicants complete the <a href=\"http:\/\/174.141.233.253\/~villageofschaumb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/6B-Application-fillable.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Village\u2019s 6B application<\/a> and pay an application fee of $500. The interest rates on these industrial revenue bonds are 65-80% lower than conventional bank interest rates and typically save 10-25% of the amount financed. Eligible applicants are limited to manufacturers that alter or add value to raw materials.
