Schaumburg Celebrates Bike Month
The village celebrates Bike Month in June by organizing a full month of activities for individuals at any skill level. There are opportunities for all to participate whether you are a resident, student, or part of the workforce in Schaumburg.

The Village of Schaumburg and the Schaumburg Park District hosted the Fahrrad Tour von Schaumburg on Sunday, June 4th. This event was a great success with a total of 207 participants in attendance! This family-friendly bicycle tour included a Police escort when biking along or crossing the street. Following the ride, participants enjoyed a picnic lunch on the municipal center plaza.
- This event kicked off at noon on Sunday, June 4, 2023.
- This event was FREE and open to the public.
- The five-mile ride will began and ended at the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center located at 101 Schaumburg Court.

Translated from German to English, Fahrrad Tour von Schaumburg means Bicycle Route Tour of Schaumburg. Celebrate Schaumburg’s heritage and extensive bike route network with this five-mile ride on off-street bike paths and on-street bike lanes.

To celebrate National Bike Month in June, the Village of Schaumburg is organizing the Business Bike Classic team bicycle challenge.
Business Bike Classic Details:
- The contest is open to any business or business organization employing four or more people with a designated workplace in Schaumburg.
- Teams of four record their cycling mileage completed during the month of June. Mileage completed on stationary and spinning miles are also eligible.
- Each team member is required to sign up for the 2023 Schaumburg Business Bike Classic Strava Club. Once your team is registered for the challenge, contestants will receive an invitation via email to join the club. Strava is free to join and it is easy to record, manually input, or import mileage. This program increases accountability for the competition and give riders the opportunity to interact with each other.
- Team leaders register their team online through this registration link.
- Team names must be in good taste and include the name of the agency being represented.
- Each team member must sign a Waiver of Release to participate.
- Each Friday in June, team leaders will receive a mileage link to submit their team’s mileage.
- Cumulative results will be distributed for teams in the novice, intermediate, and advanced tiers (totaling up to 650 miles, 651-1,500 miles, and 1,501+ miles, respectively).
- The top teams and individuals in each tier will win prizes and be recognized on the village’s communication channels. The team with the most completed miles in the entire competition will be awarded the traveling Business Bike Classic trophy at the July 11th Village Board Meeting.

In 2022, the 4th Annual Business Bike Classic featured 17 teams from Schaumburg agencies, and participants completed a combined total of 13,385 miles. The Village of Schaumburg congratulates Team “Zurich – Z Cycle de Lego” for riding the most miles in the entire competition!
New to Bike Month, the Village of Schaumburg is featuring the Student Bike Classic individual bicycle challenge.
Student Bike Classic Details:
- The contest is open to elementary, middle, and high school students from School Districts 54 and 211 located in Schaumburg including Aldrin, Blackwell, Campanelli, Collins, Dirksen, Dooley, Enders-Salk, and Hale Elementary Schools; Hoover Math & Science Academy; Addams and Frost Junior High Schools; as well as Schaumburg and Conant High Schools.
- Individual students record their cycling mileage completed during the month of June.
- Sign up for this event online through this registration link.
- Each contestant must sign a Waiver of Release to participate.
- Each Friday in June, students or their guardians will submit cumulative mileage via email through the mileage link.
- Each team member must sign a Waiver of Release to participate.
- Each Friday in June, team leaders will receive a mileage link to submit their team’s mileage.
- Results will be distributed in tiers by level of education (elementary, middle, and high school).
- The top students in each tier will win prizes and be recognized on the village’s communication channels.

SAVE THE DATE!
The village is bringing back Bike to Work Day to promote Schaumburg residents, agencies, and colleagues to bike to work on Wednesday, June 21st. A random drawing will take place for participants who post a photo to the village’s social media channels using the hashtag #schaumburgbiketoworkday.
