Blue Öyster Cult and Cap’n Funk & The Groove Train to Perform

The Village of Schaumburg is pleased to announce Blue Öyster Cult and Cap’n Funk & The Groove Train as the main stage acts for Saturday, Sept. 2 at its popular three-day festival, Septemberfest. BoDeans and Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root with Dirk Miller will perform as the main stage acts for Sunday, Sept. 3, which will be followed by fireworks. Al Jardine and his Endless Summer Band and Heart to HeartBreaker will perform as the main stage acts for Monday, Sept. 4.

Blue Öyster Cult will headline the main stage at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2. The band is praised for its catchy-yet-heavy music and lyrics which have earned them both mainstream critical acclaim as well as commercial success. With the classic hits “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” and “Burnin’ for You,” Blue Öyster Cult was listed in VH1’s countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time. The performance is sponsored by The Rose Family.

Cap’n Funk & The Groove Train will open for Blue Öyster Cult at 6 p.m. Blending rock and pop genres with funky flavor coming from its horn section, the band plays a collection of covers and originals inspired by bands of the 70s and 80s.

A schedule of performing acts for the Craft Beer and Wine Stage and the Local Stage can be found online at www.septemberfest.org.

Septemberfest will be held Sept. 2-4 at the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center grounds in Schaumburg. VIP ticketholders will be provided a chair immediately in front of the main stage, come-and-go privileges to enjoy the festival, access to a climate-controlled restroom, and VIP access to the bar at the main stage. Individual VIP tickets will become available on Tuesday, Aug. 1 for $25 per person if maximum capacity is not yet reached.
