The Story

George "Vinny" Mitchell, of Plainfield, Illinois died at 5:20 a.m. on Friday May 20, 2016 at Community Nursing Home Facility in Naperville, Illinois. After courageously fighting a near-lifelong battle with countless medical ailments, Vinny peacefully passed away at the young age of 54 with both dignity and valor. He will live on in the fond memories of his many friends and family who loved him so dearly.

Vinny was born on March 12, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois and was raised by his father, the late William Lee Mitchell, and mother, Patricia Ann Mitchell. In his youth, he was best known as an athlete participating in competitive football and wrestling. As a young adult, Vinny discovered great interest in fitness and participated as a competitive bodybuilder. His passion for hunting, fishing, and love for motorcycles brought him great enjoyment in his later years. When his health allowed, he was always active and pursued a diverse set of interests. However, he most adored spending time with his children.

Vinny is survived by his children - Brittany Rose Mitchell, Ashley Ann Mitchell, and Kyle Townsend; his mother - Patricia Ann Mitchell; and his three brothers - William John Mitchell, Scott Patrick Mitchell, and Marc Edward Mitchell. Vinny maintained a loving relationship with his former spouse, Sandra Mitchell, throughout co-parenting the daughters they both so loved.

An avid biker, Vinny loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a very active member in the Justified Motorcycle Club, the members of which stood by his side in support and encouragement as loyal friends until the very end of his life.

Memories may be made to the Vinny Mitchell Memorial Fund set up to help fund his daughters' education. https://pages.giveforward.com/family/page-qg7y9w6
