Ross Dailey
Lovingly memorialized by His Family on January 6, 2016
In life there are two kinds of people. some who come and go in our lives unnoticed. And then there are the very precious few who touch our lives and we are forever blessed. Ross Tallman Dailey, our kind, compassionate gentle husband, father and devoted grandfather blessed our lives forever. He passed quietly in his sleep on January 4 in Ocala, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Karen Dailey, son, Ryan Tallman Dailey (wife Melissa) and his oh so special three grandchildren, Tallman, Adalyn and Eli. He also is survived by his two sisters, Pamela Hillebrand (husband Robert) of Ocala, Florida and Diane Dailey of Los Angeles, California.
Ross was born June 18, 1936 in Tappan, New York. He graduated from Albany State Teachers’ College with a BS and MS. He received his Phd from Michigan State University in 1972. He was the Business Department Chairman at West Babylon High School on Long Island, New York for more than twenty years.
He moved with his family to Saranac Lake, New York and began a fifteen year employment with North Country Community College. His positions were Associate Professor, Acting Dean of Students, Chair of the Business, Recreation and Human Services Division. He was a respected colleague, sensitive leader and model educator.
In 1993, Ross was granted a sabbatical to be a Visiting Professor in the Graduate School of Education at his alma mater Michigan State University in East Lansing, Miching. He was joined by his son, Ryan, for a unique experience both of them shared creating great memories and growing closer together as father and son. Karen and the family pet, Chelsey, remained in Saranac Lake as Karen was employed at TLCSD math educator.
Ross retired from NCCC in 1996. He continued a fifteen year career as a US Soccer Official throughout the North Country. His love of officiating brought him great joy. Many times parents could be heard saying, “Ross is the gentlest official on the field. When my daughter commits a foul, Ross always made it a teachable moment.” Imagine if all youth could experience such kindness and learning.
Ross was the Director of the FHA at Kiwassa Road. When he left there, residents knew they were losing a uniquely compassionate leader for all.
Ross was a thirty six year member of the Saranac Lake United Methodist Church. He was the resident photographer for the church annual Turkey Supper. So many memories of our church community effort.
He so dearly appreciated all of the friends he made in the Tri-Lakes. If you are reading this and were fortunate enough to spend time with him, please know he enjoyed every conversation with you. He found much joy in his life by being able to touch others lives through his compassion and gentleness. He was as humble a man as they come and we are grateful to be touched by his kindness.
Two celebrations of Ross’ life will be held. The first will be in Ocala at Ocala West United Methodist Church on Friday, January 8th at 4:00 pm followed by a small buffet. The second celebration and buffet will be held in Saranac Lake at the United Methodist Church in the summer of 2016, followed by the spreading of his ashes.
Those wishing to remember Ross may make a donation in his name to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in Saranac Lake, NY or send flowers for the service on Friday at Ocala West United Methodist Church in Ocala, FL. His twelve year old ever loyal Border Collie, Buddy, survives.

Posey Lester
Lovingly memorialized by Sara Johnson on January 5, 2016
Posey D. Lester, 68, of Marcellus, MI passed away peacefully on December 29, 2015 in Ann Arbor Mercy Hospital after a long battle with Guillain-Barre' Syndrome.
Posey was a born December 21, 1947 in Panther, WV to Audra and Kathleen (Murphy) Lester, and was the oldest of 10 children. He spent his youth in the mountains of WV, much of the time seeking the higher elevations where he felt most free. He learned at an early age how to work hard to earn his way through life. From a bicycle paper route, to building bicycles from scraps in his own basement bicycle shop, to delivering groceries, mowing lawns and helping out anyone who needed a little help, Posey was the go to boy in his home town, and all before he was out of grade school. His family moved to Chicago where he spent his high school years, and his 20's, started a family, and pursued his life long career of being a Master Auto Technician. He had big love for his daughters, Dia, Simone, and Jacqueline, the Chicago blues, dancing, riding his motorcycle, a good genuine Chicago dog, and beer. Finally, Posey moved to Michigan in his 30's where he would spend the rest of life. It is in Michigan where his marriage ended and the 3rd and final chapter began. He met his future life long partner and her son, Sara and Zachary and enjoyed the tranquility of living in the country, golfing, art, music, and of course, beer. He was contented that he did everything he ever wanted to do in life.
Posey was so very much loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Brenda Ortiz
Lovingly memorialized by Jennie Comstock on January 4, 2016
Brenda Ortiz, known affectionately by most as “Nina”, passed away in San Leandro, California, on Saturday, December 19, 2015.
Brenda was born in Oakland, California, to Mathilda Bays and Robert Cameron, on July 29, 1954. One year later, she was blessed with a sister named Debbie. Debbie was unable to say “Brenda” when she began talking, so she called her sister “Nina”…and the name stuck. Brenda had one daughter named Jennie Mathilda Ortiz. Although she devoted her life to Jennie, she was truly everyone’s “Nina”, and has lovingly been considered a second mother to many. Nina absolutely loved children, and spent the last 27 years of her life as a childcare provider. She helped raise not only her extended family, such as her daughter’s half-sisters, but also many children she protected and cherished in her care as her own. In addition to remembering Nina as the caring and selfless individual that she was, many will remember her amazing and sculpted calves which she was regularly complimented on. She would proudly tell people that they were the result of the constant squatting she did daily as a child care provider; squatting to wipe one child's nose, squatting again to tie another's shoe.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Jennie; Jennie’s 3 half-sisters, Julia, Angela and Natalie; her father Robert; mother-in-law Theresa; sister Debbie; brother Mac; nephew Jesse; niece Teresa; great nephew Cole; great niece Sophia; great niece Emily; great nephew Joseph; niece Christie; niece Sharon; nephew JJ; great nephews Junior and Anthony; great niece Sophia; grand dogs Tasha and Molly, and grand cats Mr. Sniffles and buddy.
Brenda’s life was celebrated by her family at a private party on Saturday, Jan. 2nd.
