Adenike Aduke Iyinolakan
Lovingly memorialized by Doyin A. on July 16, 2018
Adenike Bibitayo Oyinlade Aduke Iyinolakan (Nee Ogundipe) was born on the 6th day of June in 1957 to the family of Late Pa Ogundipe Alatishe of Ile Alagbede, Oyan in Osun state and Alhaja Olorunkemi of Olowe in Erin-ile, Kwara state. Adenike had numerous siblings on both sides of her family tree but was the "only child" of both parents.
Adenike's primary education was in far flung Azare in Bauchi state where she grew up and secured admission into Federal Government College, Odogbolu in Ogun state where she loved the long train rides from Bauchi to the west.
After her secondary education, she returned to the north for a brief stint in nursing at the Nursing School, Bauchi at the behest of her successful merchant mother, this wouldn't last long as her aversion to blood and human remains caused her to drop out. She then enrolled to pursue a passion of hers in homemaking and catering at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida in central Nigeria. While in Bida, she made lifelong friends in Agnes "Aunty Agie" Oriaran and Funmi "Mummy Dayo" Dada , friends who will become family and affect the course of each other's lives long into the future.
After her education at Bida, Nike worked in communications at Radio Kwara, Ilorin after which she ventured into business which she did for 30 odd years. While living in Ilorin she met Joseph Iyinolakan, a businessman who saw and fell for her and after a couple of months, they got married in December of 1984.
Adenike moved to Lagos where her husband lived to start the rest of her life. In May of 1985, the had a boy, Olawale Olamide and in August of the next year, they had a beautiful baby girl, Oladoyin Omosolape. The chubby giant, Olayinka Oluwadamilola, came after another 3 years in July of ‘89. Though Adenike had 3 biological children, she looked after 11 all of which were hers because they were all Joseph's and she showered love upon every one of them, seeing them through; school, marriages, child births and crucial phases of their lives.
A kind and caring mother and philanthropist, Adenike's love reached out to nephews, nieces, even strangers, both from a distance and close quarters, often bringing them into her own home and raising them as her own. Maybe due to being an "only child", Nike had a warm and lovely aura, attracting genuine love, from the love of her husband and children to good friends, and that of strangers, domestic staff and this love burns wildly in their hearts till this day.
Raised as Afusat in the muslim household of her devout mother, she was always curious about Christ, eventually got baptized, took the name Eunice and worked devotedly for Christ at Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served as the secretary and later as President of Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) as well as in other capacities over decades.
A dedicated wife, in 2014, Adenike moved to Igbaja, Kwara state, with her husband of 30 years, when he retired to live and run Claypot Guest House which she turned into a warm and classy melting pot for locals. Intentional about her life in every way, she lived life on her own terms, loved devotedly, raised her children firmly, gave of herself graciously and she sacrificed willfully.
Adenike Aduke loved to sing, smile, dance and entertain guests even though she had a fairly shy personality. She had a curious mind hence she read a lot, remembered everyone's birthday like a calendar, liked learning about new gadgets, was enamored with facebook, was frequent on instagram, and could kill you with Whatsapp broadcasts. She loved traveling and learning about other cultures and was good with languages, often making witful mimicry of speakers of other languages.
Fondly called Grandma Luwa-luwa or Grandma Igbaja by her numerous grandchildren, Adenike slept in the Lord after a valiant battle with illness on Monday, 9th July 2018 surrounding by her husband and children. She lived a complete life, affecting lives aplenty and leaving a positive legacy.

Virginia L. Walker
Lovingly memorialized by Darst Funeral Home Kingwood, Texas on June 1, 2018
Virginia Lee "Gengie" Hewitt was born in a small East Texas town called Joaquin on July 19, 1940. She was taken from this earth into the arms of Jesus on May 30, 2018. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, loved ones and Lindale Church.
She was preceded in her ascent to Heaven by her beloved and longed for mama and daddy, Barron and Beulah Hewitt, her dearly loved sister Barbara Ann Jackson and brother in law Ronald Franklin Jackson. She leaves behind to honor and follow her Lord, the love of her life, Michael Kent Walker, her two daugthers Michelle Lee Walker and Theresa Lynette Walker, her precious little brother Joe Henry Hewitt, sweet nieces Veressa Joy Jackson, Abby Danielle Hewitt, beloved nephews Ronny Jackson, David Joseph Hewitt, and wonderful great nieces Jordan Alexandra Jackson and Victoria Alana Baker, beloved cousins, beloved in-laws, Lindale Church family, priceless friends, neighbors. Special love and thanks to Jimmy and Ruth, Elois, LouAnn, Mary P, Miriam & Agustin, Fuente de Aqua Viva with Pastors Pablo and Ana, Cup of Cold Water Ministries with Igor and Linda Demjen. and Lindale Church Pastors Randy and Jana whom she adored. She loved all of her friends so very deeply. She would say thank you for the love and support you all gave in one way or the other, many, many of you going above and beyond
Her world consisted of God, her family, her church, her friends and those in need.. She spent a lifetime being godly, soft spoken, loud praying, kind, compassionate, generous, positive, encouraging, faithful, responsible, consistent, serving, committed, honest, longsuffering, friendly, fun, and loving.
She was always the peacemaker and her only request when asked what she wanted, was "peace" and "unity" for her family. She never asked for anything for herself. She endeavored to give more than she received.
She enjoyed gardening, yard work, keeping her home organized and clean, birds, dogs, cats, nature. She spent her last years watching the squirrels and birds feed outside the back door with Mike. She said those were her babies.
She also enjoyed talking on the phone with her prayer partners. Janie, Elvira and Mary C were her most recent prayer partners. She had previously enjoyed sitting in the back pew with her friends Lanelle and Betty.
She has a longtime friend, practically sister, of 40 years, Patricia Echandi. We appreciate the love and care for mama from you and your family, Patricia.
Mama loved praying, singing , worshipping, serving Jesus. She prayed daily for everyone that she knew, cried for those who were hurting , rejoiced with those who rejoiced, and encouraged those who needed it. She prayed her two daughters and her husband back into fellowship with God when they went astray. She never gave up on them.
She kept her joy, faith and loving kindness during many years of pain and illness. She never, ever complained and rarely was it known how much she was really hurting or how sick she was. She fought long and hard. She never gave up. Her body got tired and released its hold on her spirit. Her Lord carried her home to be eternally with Him and to await the soon coming of the rest of her loved ones to join her.

Gary Lowe
Lovingly memorialized by Kristina Thurman on May 23, 2018
On Sunday, May 20th, 2018, Gary Douglas Lowe passed away peacefully in his home in LaGrange, Georgia, surrounded by family.
He was born on June 18th, 1942 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The only son of John “Wayne” and Selma Lowe, Gary spent his youth farming, riding horses, and singing in the local Lutheran church choir. Upon graduating from Lyons High School in 1960, Gary joined the Navy and then attended the University of Colorado where he earned his Bachelors of Arts degree. Those that knew him well will recall a few pauses on the way to his degree which led to some of his most entertaining stories.
Gary’s life was defined by his affection for travel, food, art, music, and adventure. He had stories about working for the Egyptian Consulate, hanging with celebrities at the Tiburon Lodge, and turning down the opportunity to make an album for a now infamous artist. Since meeting his wife Dianne Friend in 1972, those adventures continued from their wedding in Carson City, Nevada, to serving as the West Coast Commissioner for the revival of Women’s Roller Derby in the late ‘70s.
A prodigious reader, he could capably discuss many genres of literature, especially fantasy and science fiction. He loved and collected books and films and could always be counted on for an in-depth conversation about anything from history to current events. Gary was a committed fan of the Denver Broncos and was elated at their last Super Bowl victory in 2015.
His greatest love, however, was his family, whom he led and then followed across seven different states. After Dianne’s passing, he moved to Lafayette, Louisiana to be closer to his daughter and his grandchildren. After some time living in Florida, he joined her again, in LaGrange, Georgia, where he enjoyed reading and catching up with his many friends on his covered porch. He traveled as often as possible to see his sons and grandchildren on the East Coast, and visited New York, Jamaica, St. Maarten and Puerto Rico with them in recent years.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Kristina Thurman, her husband, Justin, and their two children, Calder Eliot and Herra Dianne, of LaGrange, Georgia; his eldest son, Jonathan Lowe and his wife, Katina Varzos, and their two children, Eliot Nicholas and Colette Dianne, of Guilford, Connecticut; and his youngest son, Nicholas Lowe, of Reno, Nevada. Gary has a large and loving extended family including cousins Sharon Badra, Joyce Becker and Renee Roth, and his late wife’s brothers, Damien and Stephen Friend; her sisters Lisa Friend, Joan Friend, and Nancy Hoffman. He will be dearly missed by all.

Natalia Theresa Salevsky
Lovingly memorialized by Janine Salevsky on May 22, 2018
Hello. I am the mother of a sweet, beautiful, amazing girl named Natalia. Describing a girl like Natalia in words is nearly impossible… for she embodied my soul. Natalia left this earth unexpectedly on August 25, 2013. My life and the lives of our family have been altered forever. Natalia’s story that I will share with you of her special angels depicts the essence of her pure love and the beauty of giving.
Natalia Theresa was born on May 8, 2003. She was named after her aunt Theresa, who suffered from the effects of Leukemia at age 6 and passed in 1977. Natalia was a vibrant, loving child from her very beginning who clearly set herself apart. I would often recount myself saying, “There’s something special about that girl, I don’t know quite what it is, but whatever it is…she is surely going to do something amazing someday.”
By the age of four, Natalia’s radiant personality became even more evident. While there was a childlike essence and innocence to her, she possessed qualities that made one consider her an old soul. She was always thinking and contemplating, as if there was always a greater meaning to things. Natalia was the one who would brighten up any room and carry on a conversation with anyone, no matter the age. She had her own opinions and when she would talk, others would listen. She was always curious and imaginative, constantly asking questions and wanting to learn more. Natalia had an amazing wit about her and possessed an unmistakable quality of pure common sense and intelligence that left one wondering how a little girl could be so in tuned with others. She loved a good story especially her American Girl books which depicted themes of friendship, loyalty, integrity, all qualities that she exhibited in her everyday life. She listened to songs. Taylor Swift was her favorite among many others. Natalia had a knack of remembering lyrics and could hear a song once and sing it. And could she sing… At age 4 she sang “The National Anthem” at her brothers’ baseball game and continued to sing at other venues through the years. Natalia absolutely loved to draw and drew beautiful pictures that reflected her compassion and her “light”, all of people with smiles and arms wide open.
In March of 2010, at the age of six, Natalia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She had no symptoms and never showed any signs. It was devastating news… for Natalia was always so vibrant and full of energy… she had such a bright future and it was evident. Instead, she had 2 ½ years of chemotherapy treatment facing her.
By May of 2012, Natalia had nearly completed her course of treatment and her prognosis was very good. During that time, Natalia blossomed into a young lady. While still undergoing chemotherapy treatment, she found her new niche on stage. She never allowed anyone to know of her struggles, for she always portrayed a vibrant, beautiful person who encouraged others. I recall her backstage encouraging others and praising them, and oftentimes making them laugh. After all, she wanted everyone to be happy like she was. In that respect, Natalia was a transformer. She especially felt for those who were less fortunate and possessed an inner focus and depth of feeling for others, despite what she had been through. In fact, if someone was special to her, she would make a personalized gift, often using her own creativeness and insisting on using her own money. During her plays, she made personalized name bracelets for every cast member and oftentimes would buy her brothers special gifts because “they were good brothers”. She was always showing random acts of kindness.
In the summer of 2012, Natalia discovered an angel ornament that she had seen and wanted to replicate them as gifts for her friends and especially for the children who had to be in the hospital for Christmas. After all, she knew what it was like to be there. So, for Christmas of 2012, she made these angels for them. Natalia was overjoyed and simply beamed after receiving a call from a social worker thanking her and telling her how she made a difference to several special children. “Oh Mommy,” she cried out, “Can we make more next year, maybe we can even give out some even other places.”
Natalia turned 10 on May 8th of 2013. She was off all of her treatment. It happened to be her last birthday, yet we had no hint of that then. It was indeed a grand day with her best of friends and their dolls. But in the month following, she started having headaches and by July, it was determined that her Leukemia had relapsed. Natalia only had one year free from treatment. The night before her next treatment we broke the news to her and her words to her Dad were, “But it’s not fair. I only had a year.” Words that were heart-breaking but true… Nevertheless, Natalia’s spirit never waivered. She faced her next challenge of 2 ½ years more of treatment with courage and indescribable strength. For she knew that we would be by her side as always; she knew she had our strength, irregardless, as we told her so many times… And our family was prepared to do whatever it took to get through this next course of treatment. Until she, after her first round of treatment, came down with an infection which led to unexplainable multiple complications. Natalia passed from this earth unexpectedly on August 25, 2013. Never, did we imagine this happening. It’s still unbelievable and heart-wrenching…. especially since this sweet, beautiful girl had yet so much left to give.
All who knew Natalia loved and enjoyed her, for she was truly “one-of-a-kind”…not because she was my daughter either. There was always something SPECIAL about her ….unlike anyone. Natalia had a unique ability to bring out the best qualities in those around her, like a beam of light… the sun…. She truly was all about love… I believe, and I’m sure others would agree, a true angel on earth. We would often lie in her bed at night and look up at the stars in awe, saying how people on the other side of the world could experience the view as well. And then, we’d get talking and words would be, “Wouldn’t it be totally amazing to be someone like Taylor Swift and be able to touch the lives of people all over the world.”
So, this is only just a small glimpse of a girl… a truly amazing one… one that taught me that I can be more than I ever thought I would ever be. Natalia inspired me and continues to do so… to be more … to do more… My love for her is beyond measure, and I have no doubt that she knew how much she was loved. She always gave back ten-fold. As her mother, I can say that she taught me so much and continues to do so, a soulmate that has left me with a bond that is beyond words. I know that we will be together again someday…but for now it is my turn to give back and to continue what she started… in her honor… for I know now my purpose here on earth. Natalia would always say to me…”Mommy, what do you want to be when you grow up?” My answer would be… “I want to be just like you, Natalia”. I will do my best to do that.
I know in my heart of hearts, Natalia would want for the world to be a better place, to be more giving and be more loving. That is her message and her gift to this world. Please relish in Natalia’s angel, made in continuance of what Natalia had already set in place… to represent her “giving spirit”, an amazing little girl whose sole purpose was to spread her endless love. May you receive comfort and reassurance in knowing that a little girl angel is truly watching over you… May you, in turn, pass on that gift of true love and true giving someday…to keep alive the spirit of a beautiful angel girl named Natalia.
Always and forever,
Natalia’s Mommy
