THE MIRABAL SISTERS...

REMEMBERING MINERVA ARGENTINA :
SHE WAS BORN ON MARCH 12,1926. AT A YOUNG AGE SHE SHOWED INTELLIGENCE. BY THE TIME MINERVA WAS SEVEN YEARS OLD, SHE COULD RECITE THE VERSES OF FRENCH POETS. SHE WAS SENT TO THE CATHOLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL IN MACULADA CONCEPCION AT THE AGE OF 12 WITH HER SISTERS, PATRIA AND DEDE.

REMEMBERING MARIA TERESA:
SHE WAS BORN ON OCTOBER 15, 1936; ASSASSINATED BY COMMAND OF THE DICTATOR OF THE D.R., GENERALISSIMO RAFAEL LEONIDAS TRUJILLO MOLINA. MARIA IS THE YOUNGEST OUT OF THE SISTERS. SHE GOT MARRIED TO LEANDRO GUZMAN AND GAVE BIRTH TO THEIR DAUGHTER JAQUELINE. MARIA ONCE SAID "PERHAPS WHAT WE HAVE MOST NEAR IS DEATH, BUT THAT IDEA DOES NOT FRIGHTEN ME, WE SHALL CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR THAT WHICH IS JUST..."

AND LASTLY REMEMBERING PATRIA MERCEDES:
SHE WAS BORN ON FEBRUARY 27,1924. AT THE AGE OF 17 SHE MARRIED PEDRO GONZALEZ WHO WAS A FARMER. TOGETHER THEY HAD FOUR CHILDREN:NELSON ENRIQUE, NORIS MERCEDES, RAUL ENNESTO, AND JUAN ANTONIO( WHO SADLY DIED 5MONTHS AFTER HIS BIRTH). PATRIA LOVED HER KIDS, SHE WOULD GIVE HER LIFE FOR THEM.

THE THREE MIRABAL SISTERS STORY IS A FASCINATING AND POWERFUL PICTURE OF A FAMILY AND A NATION'S HISTORY.
