John Cheng

John Cheng was very active in the golf business. He had two marriages with a total of five children. He was very much loved by his family and friends. He was very passionate about golf and dedicated his life to it. He invented the first Metal Wood and created a new golf game called Cygnet Better Golf. Here is a list of some of his achievements:

MEMORABLE EVENTS:

• Patented the first modern metal wood in Canada in 1975, Patent # 968379.

• PCT patent received for Cygnet Better Golf in 2002 covering 110 countries, patent # W002 -058796A3

• Patent in China for Cygnet Better Golf received in 2006, Patent # ZL200530055552.4.

• Patent in China for the wrist guard received in 2006, Patent # ZL200420103042.X.

• Kativak School Board in Nunavut bought Cygnet Better Golf Equipment for playing golf up north of Canada in 2002 where there is 4 months’ total darkness.

• Staged the first International Beach Golf Tournament at Costa del Sol, Spain in 2003.

• Recognized by the PGA of Austria as a great invention 2003.

• Cygnet Better Golf equipment was used for playing snow golf in winter, teach golf year-round and bring beginners to play golf on golf course without damaging the fairways.

• Launched Desert Golf in Jordan in 2004. CygnetBetter Golf was patronized by His Majesty, King Abdullah II of Jordan.

• Club Med purchased Cygnet Better Golf equipment for all their resorts in the Orient in 2004.

• The owners of Callaway tested the Cygnet Better Golf products and thought they were great inventions in 2008.

• One of the world's top Golf Instructors, David Leadbetter, loved Cygnet Better Golf and had his PGA Tour players sampling it in 2008. He was seriously interested in buying 10,000 portable golf sets per month to start marketing Cygnet Better Golf in the United States.

• Cygnet appointed Michael Gillett as the distributor for Australia

• John Cheng, the inventor of Cygnet Better Golf was an invited speaker at the Asia Pacific Golf Industry Show in October, 2010 to talk about the promotion of golf with CYGNET BETTER GOLF.

• Cygnet appointed the PGA of Asia as the distributor for Thailand in 2010.

• San-grila resorts purchased Cygnet Better Golf Products in 2010.

• CYGNET BETTER GOLF is well-known in Ontario and Quebec, Canada. Presentations have been done to tens of thousands of teachers and students in Ontario, Canada thru the years.May schools have purchased CYGNET BETTER GOLF equipment for playing golf right at school year-round. The teachers and students loved Cygnet Better Golf.

• Cygnet Better Golf started marketing its products in China.

• In 2011, John Cheng and his daughter, Anne were invited To participate in the popular program, Dragons’ Den to Showcase his inventions on Canadian National Television (CBC) which has an audience of over 300 million in North America.

• Cygnet Better Golf was displayed at the 2013 Beijing Golf Show with phenomenal success including interview by the Chinese National Television

Asru Kumar Sinha

Following the inevitable laws of nature, our eminent and legendary teacher Prof. Asru K. Sinha passed away on 17th March, 2016. We deeply mourn his sudden demise. He left behind the best legacy that will be remembered by many generations of biochemists in different Universities in USA and in India. He is not only a biochemist only, but a philosopher, Doctor and walked along every path of knowledge very easily. He was a completely dedicated person to science and Medicine. In the year 2000, he established his dream institute “Sinha Institute of Medical Science and Technology” of serving research and cancer patient community which is 17 years old now. Prof Sinha spirit is always with us, let us take forward his mission, this is the best way to pay our gratitude to him.

To discuss regarding our future steps to proceed further a general meeting is being held on Sunday, 20th March, 2016 at 1.30PM in our institute building. You are cordially requested to join this meeting and deliver your precious suggestion.
