Justin Scott DeMoss

Lovingly memorialized by Carrie DeMoss on November 13, 2016

To all who knew Justin, I ask for loving energy as we grieve his loss. He touched more souls in his short lifetime than he ever understood. He came to this world as a teacher and a student, and all of us helped his soul's journey in some way. He has returned home to God, but his spirit still surrounds us with love and peace.

Months ago, Justin took a leap of faith and moved to Virginia to create a brighter future. He wanted more from life and asked for our help. He began that path by enrolling in massage therapy school in Maryland. He always wanted to help others and share the gift of healing. In the past six weeks of school, he was happy and doing quite well. He also had a new job as a server at a wonderful local restaurant called Copperwood Tavern in Ashburn. He was surrounded by positive new experiences and wonderful new friends. During this time, Justin and we learned the very unfortunate news that his brain tumor had returned. Despite this he stayed strong and committed to his path. But God had other plans for Justin. He died unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep in our home where he was surrounded by constant care, comfort and love. We were blessed to have not only a lifetime with him, but the past three months have been a rare opportunity to make new memories. He leaves behind two beautiful daughters Breanna and Haylee whom he loved so very much. In Justin's honor we have set up a Memorial Trust fund in their behalf.

Ryan Murphy

Lovingly memorialized by Donna Hughes on November 11, 2016

Ryan Murphy...what words are there that can encapsulate the life of a man who touched so many lives with honor, respect, love, and that patented "Murph" humorous style. Ryan's love for his family shaped him from a very young age, it made him into one of the best fathers I have ever known.
He was taken from us way too soon, but he left a legacy of love that will live on through all of us....the ones he loved.

David Vail

Lovingly memorialized by Heather Vail on October 24, 2016

Dave and I lived together since he got diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma cancer 7 years ago. Throughout that time we shared many experiences and memories. We laughed, we cried, we fought, and we laughed again. Dave was one of the wittiest, funniest, most generous, compassionate, caring, and humble people I've ever met. His strength and courage set an example for me to follow. I am blessed to have been his sister and his best friend.
I'll never forget how Dave helped me and guilded me over the years, generously sharing his time and energy. From picking out the perfect hair style for my wedding day to supporting through a horrible job situation. Dave always took great interest in my life helping me cope and work through problems. He had such a selfless nature and way about him.
D was infamous for being a prankster- even during his last stay in the hospital- he was constantly telling jokes about his port being broken, telling people his name was pronounced Daveed. He constantly made bets with the nurses about how quickly he was going to recoup and go home. His charismatic personality and charm made him one of the most lovable people. He made an effort to connect with everyone from homeless people on the street to family, friends and relatives. He enjoyed making people laugh and making light of bad situations. Throughout the past 7 years Dave never complained. He never accepted pity from anyone based on his condition, instead he courageously fought his battle and he won. He beat the odds. That sums up Dave, always striving for more, always exceeding expectations and pushing the limits because of his desire and will. I couldn't be more proud of my brother.
I can go on for hours talking about the kind of person D was but, I think many of you here already know.
On this day and forever more there will be a hole in my heart, a huge void that can only be filled by the moments we shared because he made my life better in every way possible.

Arlene Dawson

Lovingly memorialized by Alexandra Durigon on October 21, 2016

Following a short and very courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Catherine Dawson on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016. Arlene was born May 11, 1954 in Whitehorse, YT, the daughter of Eric and June Dawson.

Arlene’s family moved to Coquitlam in 1956. She graduated from Centennial High School in 1972. She worked at many places along the way but was at HY Louie for over 20 years. Arlene loved listening to music, watching movies with her family, walking her dog at Mundy Park, and cooking up culinary delights for friends or family. She was an exceptional gardener with an incredible talent and ability for growing stunning gardens. Arlene was a talented artist and her paintings, sketches and drawings that are hanging in her home easily show her passion and gift for art.

Arlene is survived by her loving husband, Livio, mother June, sisters Debbie, Sherry, Heather, brother Eric, children Paul, Robert, and Alexandra, brother- and sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews, and close friends. She is predeceased by her dear father Eric Dawson and her special friend and beloved dog Harley.

It was such a privilege knowing Arlene; she had that warm caring way about her that gave you a tingle inside. She loved life to the fullest every day. Things will never be the same without our special Arlene.

Her artwork will be on display at her Celebration of Life on Sunday, December 4th, 2016 at the Old Orchard Hall in Port Moody from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Arlene’s name in lieu of flowers to the B.C. Morris Lance

Lovingly memorialized by Maria Liza Struck on October 20, 2016

Morris “Moe” A. Lance passed away on 7 October 2016 at the age of 78, following a brief battle with mesothelioma. Born on 19 February 1938 to Charles and Metha Lance of Hemingford, Nebraska, Moe graduated from Alliance High School in 1956 and immediately left to join the United States Coast Guard.
His Coast Guard career began in Alameda, California and ended 26 ½ years later in Seattle, Washington. During those years, he saw duty in Alameda and San Francisco, CA; Groton, CT; Kodiak, AL; Brownsville, TX; New Orleans, LA; Bremen, West Germany; Washington DC; Portland, OR; and Seattle, WA, as a personnel specialist. His steady rise through the ranks culminated in a commissioned appointment as a Chief Warrant Officer W-4, the final rung on the warrant officer ladder. Upon retiring from the Coast Guard in 1983, Moe “finally had to go to work” and so joined the law firm of Schwab, Williamson, Wyatt, Moore and Roberts, as a Marine Investigator. In 1993, he returned to government work in the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Cleanup as a Cost Recovery Specialist, for another 18 years, before finally retiring in 2011.
In 1969, Moe met Nancy Jane Allen of Kenosha, Wisconsin, whom he married in 1970. Drawn to the blue skies and beauty of the Pacific Northwest, they moved to Mill Creek, just north of Seattle, in 1980. After retiring from government service, he continued serving his local area in various roles and became a well-regarded pillar of the Mill Creek community. Moe and Nancy were married 38 years when she passed away in 2008, after losing her battle with cervical cancer.
Moe loved cooking, travelling, playing golf, bridge, and looked forward to Thursday luncheons with the boys at the Mill Creek Country Club. He traveled the world with Nancy and later with friends, taking every opportunity to see, learn and eat something new. After overseeing the design and building of his dream home in Anacortes, which overlooked the ferries crossing the Rosario Strait, Moe did the final walkthrough and accepted keys to his beautiful new home, and then passed shortly afterward.
During his final days, Moe was surrounded by friends who came from near and far to be with him. His kindness, quiet generosity, wonderful sense of humor, endless quest for answers to anything unknown, and zest for life inspired and touched many people across his life who came to regard him as family. A cherished friend beloved by all who knew him, he will be dearly missed.
