The Story
Martha Ann Hogue was born October 14, 1938 in Pomona, CA to Roy Lee Murray and Irene Idell Depreist. The Murray's traveled throughout the west as itinerant farm workers. Martha lived in many tents and dirt-floored outbuildings until the early 1950's, when Roy was able to save enough money to by a service station in Morgan Hill, CA. This is where Martha would meet her future husband, Charles Hogue at a church function. Martha and Charles were married on September 30, 1955 and worked hard together raising their three children in Santa Clara County, CA, remaining there until 1972. She lived most of her life in California, with the exception of a short while in Arizona, about five years in Hawaii, and one year in Sparks, NV. Martha was diagnosed with primary paritineal carcinosarcoma after surgery on July 31, 2014, and passed away on September 24, 2014, after moving to Oregon with family on September 6th. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles, on December 24, 2003, and her youngest son, Scott on May 29, 2013. She is survived by her son Mike, and wife Jane of Hillsboro, OR, son Barry and his wife Elizabeth of Danville, CA, daughter-in-law, Charity Hill of Orange County, CA, and sister Shirley Kreeger and husband Stubby of Riverside, CA. She also survived by her eight grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She always loved her family and was so proud of everyone. Many of us were fortunate to be able to spend some time with her in her final months and will miss her greatly. Rest in Peace, Mom. We love you.
