Service Details

Ebba boarded Titanic as 3rd class with her parents and two older sisters Sigrid (11) Ingeborg (9) , younger brother Sigvard (4) baby sister Ellis (2) from Southampton, England to Winnipeg, Canada. On April 14th Titanic struck an iceberg at 11:40 PM. Even though the collision didn't seem serious. None of the 3rd class passengers were in panic when they were told to wake up from their bunks, get dressed and put on their lifebelts. Many had to remain below deck until all 1st and 2nd class passengers boarded the lifeboat. Even though the family didn't speak English, they were still unaware of what was going on and what they were suppose to be doing. When the family reached the upper decks, the lifeboats were all used. Survivor Anna Nysten who was a Swedish immigrant and also traveled with the Andersson family stated she last saw the family standing together on the boat deck and swept by a cosmic wave. None of their bodies were recovered.

So sad you and your family never got a chance to get on a lifeboat, there were only few lifeboats left and were all used and they wouldn't allow men in the boats.

Rest in peace, dear Ebba. If only they had more lifeboats to save you and your family. :'(
