The Story

Mr. Donald (Don) Fritts, a retired financial services professional, lost his life unexpectedly March 9th. He was 63 years old. Don is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Glenn Ann Fritts, as well as his son, Brian Donald Fritts, 33, of San Francisco, his daughter Jessica Ann Fritts, 28, of Austin, Texas, and his brothers Jeff, Scott, and Brad Fritts.

Don was born on January 23rd, 1952 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Herbert and Marilyn Fritts. In 1970, Don graduated from Chatham Township High School in Chatham, New Jersey, where he played soccer, was on the swimming team, and served as Student Body President. Don continued his studies at Wake Forest University, graduating in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

After college, Don began his career in New York City, working at IBM. He took a position with Robinson Humphrey, who relocated him to Atlanta in 1982, and later served a management position with Shearson Lehman Brothers. In 1997, he became a Managing Director at AllianceBernstein Investments, where he worked until his retirement in 2008.

Don was an active member of Dunwoody Country Club, enjoyed ski trips, travelling with his family, and golfing with his buddies. He possessed a love and appreciation for music, and had a passion for aeronautical and World War II history.

Don was a wonderful, giving, and loving husband to Glenn, and a devoted father to his two children, whom he guided to adulthood with unconditional love, uncommon wisdom, and joyful pride in the people they have become. He was a caring, thoughtful, and generous man to his friends and neighbors and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th from 1:00-2:00 at Dunwoody United Methodist Church, followed by a funeral service at 2:00.
