The Story
Chrisanthy passed away peacefully Thursday evening, July 3rd at home surrounded by loved ones in Gainesville, Florida.
Chrisanthy, known as "Goldie" by her sisters, grew up in a small greek family in Detroit, Michigan. She moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana with the love of her life Norman Calder. They were married for nearly 50 years until Norman passed away in 2001.
She was an amazing loving mother raising six children Jan, Nancy, Jeff, Steve, Laura and Sara. She leaves behind her wonderful grandchildren Amanda, Leslie, Eddie, Michelle, Shannon, Mark and two great grandchildren Clint and Renea. She had a huge extended family that she loved dearly and always looked forward to visiting.
She loved life! Her smile, laughter and sense humor was infectious. Her desire for adventure took her on many travels from Hawaii to the Panama Canal, through the Caribbean islands and all corners of the US.
She enjoyed being involved in community service projects of all types over the years- one of her favorites was helping pack food for Meals on Wheels at the Orange Park Senior center in Jacksonville, Florida.
She was very artistic and created several amazing painting that are cherished by her children. Her recent activities included casino nights, movie nights, sailing, road-trips, weight watcher meetings, and many activies at the senior centers in Gainesville, Florida and Laughlin, Nevada such as scrabble club, yoga classes, dance for life, and zumba.
She began her faith with God as a child in the Greek Orthodox church and later became a member of the Church of Christ in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She will be deeply missed but her memories and smile will live on in our hearts forever.
