The Story

Writing a cliche description of Daniele and the impact he had on all of our lives is probably something he'd incessantly poke fun at. Daniele aspired to be a student of life. His unquenchable curiosity was integral to his approach to the big questions and was evident in the small day to day moments and conversations shared with his family and those near. While he searched for answers in music, art, literature, and philosophy, he demonstrated in word and deed the most lasting and honest source of value and purpose is found in family. He was his daughters’ first and most important teacher, coach, mentor, and friend. He was a devoted husband, a life partner, a committed companion in travel, here and forever.

For us who remain, his absence is a force in itself. There isn't a person who stumbled upon him who won't remember his manner of speech, his embellished and colorful stories, or the way his inappropriate humor could brighten the darkest of rooms or ease the tensest of moments. Daniele lived a life full of love in a mode of being peculiar and original. Nothing describes him better than the way he met Nancy - naked on a beach in Greece, cutting a piece of leather for his long hair, reading The Colossus of Maroussi (as was Nancy, coincidentally).

Daniele's passing presses upon us the weight of unanswered questions and unfinished chapters. He would challenge us all to explore our emotions and beliefs, to search for understanding, and to face the unexplainable with courage and curiosity. Above all else, he would remind us of the power of love. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched - and perhaps most importantly – in how we live with and for each other.

This forum is an opportunity to celebrate Daniele. It is a space to share moments, memories, thoughts, jokes, photos, wishes, messages, literature, music, and philosophy with his family and one another. You are welcome to pass this space along to others. He will shine on.

Love you Papa.

‌Sabato di Neruda.
Io chiuderò gli occhi
E voglio solo cinque cose,
cinque radici preferite.
Una è l'amore senza fine.
La seconda è vedere l'autunno.
Non posso vivere senza che le foglie
volino e tornino alla terra.
La terza è il grave inverno,
la pioggia che ho amato, la carezza
del fuoco nel freddo silvestre.
La quarta cosa è l'estate
rotonda come u'anguria.
La quinta cosa sono i tuoi occhi.

[Pablo Neruda-Chiedo Silenzio]‌

Let's start from the last time me and Manuela met Daniele: few years ago, Milan, hot summer, good Pizza and a great ice cream. Manuela asked how the ice creams are in LA ...Daniele's answer was " As licking a dolphin !" We always loved Daniele's irony and his philosophical approach. We will miss a lot our discussions/comments on FB. Now visiting LA is not just a future plan but something we have to do in order to see through our memories the places Daniele loved. This tune reminds me of him - I have no trouble at all seeing him as the narrater of this tune. "When I was just a boy still owl-eyed I liked to drink the rain to taste the sky I tried to count the stars while in my bed To keep the thoughts of monsters from my head And I believed the stars were wishes I believed the world was good I believed things hid in the dark And that all would turn out just how it should I believed in all your stories I believed you'd never lie I believed if I could climb the trees behind the house, I'd touch the sky I believed the skies were doorways home"
