The Story
Following a short and very courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Catherine Dawson on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016. Arlene was born May 11, 1954 in Whitehorse, YT, the daughter of Eric and June Dawson.
Arlene’s family moved to Coquitlam in 1956. She graduated from Centennial High School in 1972. She worked at many places along the way but was at HY Louie for over 20 years. Arlene loved listening to music, watching movies with her family, walking her dog at Mundy Park, and cooking up culinary delights for friends or family. She was an exceptional gardener with an incredible talent and ability for growing stunning gardens. Arlene was a talented artist and her paintings, sketches and drawings that are hanging in her home easily show her passion and gift for art.
Arlene is survived by her loving husband, Livio, mother June, sisters Debbie, Sherry, Heather, brother Eric, children Paul, Robert, and Alexandra, brother- and sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews, and close friends. She is predeceased by her dear father Eric Dawson and her special friend and beloved dog Harley.
It was such a privilege knowing Arlene; she had that warm caring way about her that gave you a tingle inside. She loved life to the fullest every day. Things will never be the same without our special Arlene.
Her artwork will be on display at her Celebration of Life on Sunday, December 4th, 2016 at the Old Orchard Hall in Port Moody from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Arlene’s name in lieu of flowers to the B.C. SPCA. Please call 604.681.7271 noting the donation is being made in Arlene's name.
