The Story

In the midst of my grief, I face the daunting task of crafting an eulogy for an extraordinary person, Akinsanya Savage, my friend for over 30 years who unfortunately passed away peacefully on the 29th of September 2016.

Sanya was born on the 2nd of July 1978 to Victor Akinola and Grace Savage in Apapa, Lagos.

His education was predominantly at the Nigerian Navy Schools including Nigerian Navy Primary School Apapa & Ojo and then secondary school education at Nigerian Navy Secondary School Abeokuta between 1992 and 1997. This was followed by a short stint at the University of Ibadan.

In 2013, Sanya got married to Tuoyo Fregene-Savage and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter a few months after.

Sanya was a devoted husband and father and an avid Manchester United fan. He was a peoples man, possibly the most socially capable individual I have ever met. Savo somehow knew everyone you know. Sanya had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

He is survived by his wife (Tuoyo), daughter, father (Victor), mother (Grace), brother (Akin) and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
