The Story
It is with great sadness that the family of Suzan Kaye Owen announces her unexpected passing due to a pulmonary embolism, on Friday, February 12, 2016, at the age of 60 years.
Suzan was born in Tipton, Indiana on March 25, 1955. She was the third child, and only daughter, of Charles and Avis Owen.
Suzan grew up in Kokomo, Indiana, graduating from Taylor High School in 1973, attended Ball State University and graduated from Indiana University in 1980 earning her Bachelor’s of Science in Recreational Therapy. She spent time on both coasts, residing in California and Vermont before settling in Georgia. She was a Georgia Certified Nurseryman and worked at Green Brothers Nursery and Home Depot over the years. She was an avid genealogist and reader, cat lover, wheelchair basketball enthusiast, and collector of Fiesta Ware and elephant figurines.
Suzan will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Robert Owen, by her sister-in-law Leisel Owen, and her niece Jennifer Davis. Suzan was predeceased by her mother Avis Owen, father Charles Owen and brother Edward Owen.
A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Suzan to FurKids Animal Rescue and Shelter at https://furkids.org/donation.
Suzan was like a sister to me. Being an only child she was the closest thing I could have to a real sister. You will be missed greatly CUZ. I truly loved you. Carl Brannin
