Visitation will be held at the Leo F. Kearns funeral home, 103-33 Lefferts Blvd, Richmond Hill, NY 11419, on Thursday August 6th and Friday August 7th at 6:00 -9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Leo F. Kearns funeral home, 103-33 Lefferts Blvd, Richmond Hill, NY 11419, on Saturday August 8th at 9:30 am, with cremation to follow at the Long Island Cremation Company, 91 Eads Ave West Babylon, NY 11704.
The Story
Vijai Kumarie Dhanantwari (née Ramkerat) died on Saturday August 1st 2015 in Solon, OH after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 66 years old. She was born on September 10th, 1948 in Crabwood Creek, Berbice, Guyana to parents Pandit and Hamrajie Ramkerat. She is survived by her husband Navin; her children Amar (Rosie) and Preeta (Eric); her grandchildren Alisha, Aryana, Amiya, Adrian and Divya; her siblings Bigyan (Kamal), JC (Basu), Subhas, Vidya (Phillip), Pramilla (Kadir), Baba (Prakash) and Babish (Sano); sister-in-law Indro, wife of Deo and 18 nephews and nieces. Vijai was predeceased by her parents; her sister Krishna (Denase); her brothers Navin (Sati) and Deo.
She attended Crabwood Creek Primary, Skeldon Scots, Skeldon Lutheran High schools and Teachers Training College. She married Navin Dhanantwari on August 9th, 1970. She also taught at Crabwood Creek Primary, Skeldon Lutheran High and Skeldon Line Path secondary schools. In 1992 she migrated to the US where she worked at Cookies Department stores in Queens, NY and Brooklyn, NY.
Vijai loved to cook, bake, sew and shop. She was a patient and supportive teacher and a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother, always vocal in her support of her family, friends and colleagues.
My beautiful sister-in-law will forever have a special place in my heart. May God give Navin, Amar,Preeta and the entire family the knowledge to understand that she lives in a better place, a place of eternal peace and happiness. May her next evolution be one of eternal happiness in the cradle of the infinite supreme consciousness. Deva Ramsaroop
